I didn’t know this but Movado claims they were the first one to show a complete date window in their watch back in 1946. This year, they bring it back. The watch uses an ETA movement.
.. And round and round. De Grisogono’s Instrumento Grande Open Date is a “2009 replica” of their previous case rather than an updated model. It features an automatic movement that lays bare a dual date window disc as a design feature.
The New Carl F. Bucherer wristwatch called the Patravi EvoTec Daydate uses their very own movement – the FB A1000 which they premiered at last year’s Baselworld. This is the first time they’ve used it in a model and since this is their very first movement, there are a lot of high-fives going around at their booth this year. This was the result of their purchase of a workshop by the name of Techniques Horlogeres Appliquees SA (THA) in Ste-Croix, that they renamed to Carl F. Bucherer Technolgies SA (CFBT).
Callanen International, a subsidiary of Timex corp, continued with their mission to upscale some of their brands by taking the Gc collection from Guess one step further by including three new mechanical models. The automatics will be available by the end of the year and the expected retail price is between 3000€ – 3500€
Formex’s new timepiece is targeted at racing car enthusiasts. The case can be inclined on a 90° axis between 10.30 and 1.30 using a lever at 4 o’clock. The novel crown-guard prevents any inadvertent altering of the time. The openworked dial offers a magnificent view of the Grand Prix movement. Limited edition of 199 pieces.
Richard Mille finally goes round with his new manual winding tourbillon watch with chronograph. It measures 51mm X 20mm, has double sapphire crystals and is water resistant to 300 meters. Other Stats: Power Reserve of 70 hours, 38 Jewel movement that beat at 21,600 bph.
Romain Jerome has hit up a formula – Reclaim material from famous wrecks or vehicles and turn them into collector watch. They did with their Titanic DNA watch were they use material from the Titanic and now they’ve done it again with their Moon Dust DNA which uses steel from the Apollo 11 and supposedly, dust from a rock retrieved during the first mission to the moon even though I would question its authenticity. The watch will be made to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission and several different version will be available at a price range between $15,000 to $500,000.
Angular Momentum’s AXIS/XXXIV Souscription is a new single-hand timepiece and the 34th in a line of timepieces that uses their patented revolving disk movement. The watch was inspired by the Leriche Breguet, No. 2738 which was sold to M. Leriche on November 8, 1815.
