The Subcraft

I’ve always had a soft spot for 70s inspired lateral display watches and by at that extension, I obviously have one for the Romain Jerome’s more aerodynamic update of their earlier spacecraft watch – The Subcraft.

The new one is a collaboration with famous watch designer, Alain Silberstein and it’s like a hauter Ventura. It has a jumping hour display on the side to tell the hours and a minute reading on top. The movement is created by Agenhor and is limited to 99 pieces only.

It comes in two colors – The Subcraft Titanium and the Subcraft Speed Metal.

Also, an addendum – I just wanted to comment again on how I love Romain Jerome’s insistence on cutting the heavy marketing tension that comes with the haute horlogerie territory.

At this year’s Basel, they used plushies to pack a potent punch with their display. If anything, this mashup really gives the brand legs.

  1. Love limited edition runs of watches.

I like the idea of having the hours on the side whilst keeping a clear space on top for the minutes. feel like it would display very clearly.
