Early Smartwatch Prototype from Apple

Sometimes ideas take time to bear fruit like the electric car. In a book written by Apple’s first industrial designer Hartmut Esslinger, he reveals a picture of an early attempt at an Apple smart watch.

The watch is a keypad that’s worn on the wrist and pairs with a wireless headset. The keypad sports 12 keys in all, one each for the numbers 0 through 9 and what appears to be one key each for star and pound. The headset, meanwhile, is a single-earpiece design with an integrated microphone that would curve around to the wearer’s mouth.
